A painter and art historian by trade, Tatjana Tatalović approaches her designs as a vast canvas, through which she is able to convey passion and emotion, using sometimes unexpected shapes and colors. Her silhouettes are feminine and sophisticated, yet at the same time grungy and punk. By hand-sewing each original piece herself, Tatalović reinvents the way structure and texture comingle to produce one of a kind wardrobe experience.
Using new, yet natural fabrics such as cotton, silk and linen, Tatalovic imbues her clothes with a spirit which is at once modern, precious and fresh, as well as classic in its elegance. This signature sensibility also translates to Tatalović’s other forms of endeavor – costume design, art direction and photography.
Since conception, the brand TATA has been acknowledged, appreciated and recognized for its forward-thinking contemporary design. Tatjana’s 2010 collection won the Elle Magazine prize, given to the most significant fashion collection of the 2009 Belgrade Fashion Week and has pariticipated in a number of prestigious fashion events. She currently resides in New York.
